From a Nail Art Class to a Career I Love

What began as a simple nail art class has grown into a career that I genuinely love. Over the past 16 and a half years, I have continued to learn, develop my skills and grow within the nail industry.

For the last six years, I have also had the privilege of working as a nail educator. Teaching has given me the opportunity to share everything I have learned and help other people take their first steps towards a career they feel passionate about.

There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student arrive feeling nervous or unsure and then seeing their confidence grow throughout their training.

Overcoming Challenges Along the Way

Behind the business, I’m also a wife and mum, and I live with multiple autoimmune conditions. These conditions can sometimes make everyday life and running a business more challenging, so I have had to learn to listen to my body, adapt and work in a way that supports my health.

There have been difficult days, but my health conditions have also made me more determined and understanding. They have taught me that everybody’s journey is different and that progress doesn’t always have to happen quickly to be meaningful.

I believe it is important to be honest about these challenges because building a career isn’t always a smooth or straightforward journey. There may be setbacks and times when you need to slow down, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on your goals.

Supporting the Next Generation of Nail Technicians

When I first started in the industry, I received very little advice about the business side of becoming a nail technician. I had to learn many things through experience, trial and error.

This is why I make sure my courses include more than practical nail skills. I want my students to understand professionalism, client care, natural nail health and the foundations of running a successful nail business.

I also create educational resources and digital downloads to support nail technicians who may not have received this information during their original training. They are the types of resources I wish I had access to when I first started.

The Next Chapter

My long-term goal is to continue developing Melonie’s All Things Nails into a recognised training academy and successful nail studio—a place where clients feel comfortable and cared for and students feel supported, encouraged and confident in their abilities.

Through this blog, I’ll be sharing professional nail advice, natural nail health information, educational guidance, business tips and honest experiences from my time in the industry.

Whether you are considering becoming a nail technician, already working within the industry or simply love having your nails done, I hope my blog will provide helpful information, encouragement and inspiration.

Looking back, it’s incredible to think that everything began with one nail art class. Taking that first step completely changed the direction of my life, and I’m so grateful that it did.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and learn a little more about the person behind Melonie’s All Things Nails.

This is just the beginning, and I hope you’ll join me for the next part of the journey.
